Oslo Conversation #2

What were the actual premises behind the Oslo Accords? What role did the so-called "Oslo channel" and the Norwegian actors, particularly the Labour Party (AP), play in the process? And did Israel, in reality, ever want a two-state solution?

This open panel discussion takes a critical, historical look at the background of the Oslo process and Norway's role in the negotiations. Drawing on research in the field and the experience of actors who have followed the conflict closely for several decades, the panel will discuss what happened behind the scenes during the negotiations leading up to the Oslo Accords, what political premises underpinned them, and what consequences the process has had.

Participants: Dr. Mustafa Barghouti (via pre recorded video) Prof. Hilde Henriksen Waage, Oslo, Norway Prof. Avi Shlaim, Oxford, UK Secretary General Raymond Johansen, Norwegian People's Aid Prof. Em. Dr. Med. Mads Gilbert, Tromsø, Norway Moderator Linn Stalsberg, Oslo, Norway.
